Breakfast good enough for a pothead and good enough for you... in La Mirada, CA.

Okay, I know what you're thinking.  'Why is it good enough for a pot head?' Because Krunchy French Toast, that's why.

I went to breakfast this morning and fell in love with this place, Amy's Cafe in La Mirada, CA.  So naturally, because I felt like writing about delicious food you should try sometime, I wrote a Yelp review.  Here it is:

I just visited this place with my beau for breakfast and I can confidently say it is in my top 3 favorite breakfast spots in SoCal.  Here's why:

Parking: Off street parking and plenty of it.

The Wait: I arrived at 10:30am (on a Monday) and had no wait.  There were several tables open.  Around 11am, the place was packed and there was a wait outside.  But I saw everyone seated within 5 minutes.  The place is very cozy with only about 12-15 tables that seated maybe 32-40 people max (My guess).

The Menu:  They have so many unique and yummy breakfast options to choose from!  The prices are fantastic.  We tried the Krunchy French Toast and the Valley View Special.  The Krunchy French Toast is just genius.  It's basically french toast that was dipped in corn flakes before it was cooked.  They were fluffy and fresh with the right amount of sugar and cinnamon.  We ordered it with a side of scrambled eggs and the eggs were fluffy too!  It was really very good.  The Valley View Special was huge.

Definitely enough for two people.  My favorite part about this dish was the sausage.  I can taste that they cook it with some rosemary.  It was the best breakfast sausage I think I have ever had. REALLY.  It had a ton of potatoes and the country gravy was delicious on top.  I ordered it with a side of biscuit and gravy.  The biscuit was a bit too dry and dense and the gravy needed a bit more salt and pepper in my opinion.  But that might just be my personal palette.  I look forward to trying more of their menu but it will be hard because we were so satisfied with our meal!

The Service:  The people that are saying the wait staff isn't good looking can shove it where the sun don't shine.  I thought they were total dolls!  They were beautiful women in their own right and were a bit older than the usual 'young wait staff' most people are used to but they pack a personality!  Our waitress was so dang sassy!  I wanted to hug her when I left.  lol...  She had a very loud voice for being so small and had no problem back talking everyone for laughs.  Like when we asked for syrup she yelled 'No you can't have syrup!' and when I said thanks for the flavored cream she brought (without my asking for it) she quipped 'Why? You're not even using it!'.  haha... I think if you came here and are too sensitive to wonderful people like her that have no boundary when it comes to 'easing people in' then you are really missing out.  I'll say it again, I LOVE THEIR STAFF! :)

The Place: The inside is your everyday hole in the wall diner.  Nothing special as far as decorations go but it was very clean.

All in all, you really can't beat the price, the quality of food and service, the speed of service (we were fed and full within 30 minutes!) and the ease of getting in and getting fed.  Amy's Cafe is a solid breakfast spot that is now in my Top 3 Favorite SoCal breakfast spots.
